FAQ

What can AI do for you?

There are two main uses for AI:

* Prediction - AI systems are capable of predicting future events. AI can help a self-driving automobile identify traffic lights so it can stop at the red ones.

* Decision making-AI systems can make our decisions. For example, your phone can recognize faces and suggest friends call.

Who are the leaders in today's AI market?

Artificial Intelligence, also known as computer science, is the study of creating intelligent machines capable to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence.

Today, there are many different types of artificial intelligence technologies, including machine learning, neural networks, expert systems, evolutionary computing, genetic algorithms, fuzzy logic, rule-based systems, case-based reasoning, knowledge representation and ontology engineering, and agent technology.

There has been much debate over whether AI can understand human thoughts. Deep learning has made it possible for programs to perform certain tasks well, thanks to recent advances.

Google's DeepMind unit in AI software development is today one of the top developers. Demis Hassabis founded it in 2010, having been previously the head for neuroscience at University College London. DeepMind was the first to create AlphaGo, which is a Go program that allows you to play against top professional players.

Who is the inventor of AI?

Alan Turing

Turing was born 1912. His father was a clergyman, and his mother was a nurse. After being rejected by Cambridge University, he was a brilliant student of mathematics. However, he became depressed. He discovered chess and won several tournaments. After World War II, he was employed at Bletchley Park in Britain, where he cracked German codes.

He died in 1954.

John McCarthy

McCarthy was born 1928. McCarthy studied math at Princeton University before joining MIT. The LISP programming language was developed there. In 1957, he had established the foundations of modern AI.

He died on November 11, 2011.

How does AI impact the workplace

It will change our work habits. It will allow us to automate repetitive tasks and allow employees to concentrate on higher-value activities.

It will increase customer service and help businesses offer better products and services.

It will allow us future trends to be predicted and offer opportunities.

It will enable companies to gain a competitive disadvantage over their competitors.

Companies that fail AI adoption will be left behind.

What will the government do about AI regulation?

AI regulation is something that governments already do, but they need to be better. They need to make sure that people control how their data is used. They must also ensure that AI is not used for unethical purposes by companies.

They also need ensure that we aren’t creating an unfair environment for different types and businesses. Small business owners who want to use AI for their business should be allowed to do this without restrictions from large companies.

Statistics

  • While all of it is still what seems like a far way off, the future of this technology presents a Catch-22, able to solve the world's problems and likely to power all the A.I. systems on earth, but also incredibly dangerous in the wrong hands. (forbes.com)
  • In 2019, AI adoption among large companies increased by 47% compared to 2018, according to the latest Artificial IntelligenceIndex report. (marsner.com)
  • More than 70 percent of users claim they book trips on their phones, review travel tips, and research local landmarks and restaurants. (builtin.com)
  • According to the company's website, more than 800 financial firms use AlphaSense, including some Fortune 500 corporations. (builtin.com)
